I'm sure a great many women and, of course, men can relate to my story. A story of domestic violence and emotional abuse from my husband/partner of 10 years.
Yes, 10 years it took me to finally pluck up the courage to leave him despite numerous pleadings from those close to me to leave him much sooner. But, it had to come from me; it had to be at a time that I felt comfortable to do so, not anyone else.
I believe, that my experience doesn't really compare to some of the horror stories I've read over the years but all experiences of domestic violence in whatever form they materialise are valid and worthy of support.
Funnily enough, this isn't what this lens is about: domestic violence. It's about internet dating and dating that takes place offline.
My experience of abuse has, I believe, given me valuable insight into relationships and love but I don't consider myself an expert in this field. I just want to share my knowledge with you and, hopefully, help you to get the best out of your relationships, now and/or in the future.
